Winning in the Westminster Dog Show is like winning the Grammy’s or the Academy awards for dogs. Every year dog owners from all over the world gather together with their best and outstanding dogs to compete in the Westminster dog show hosted by none other than the Westminster Kennel Club. With over a thousand contestants competing for the most prestigious categories, this event broadcasts the finest, well-trained, well-bred, and of course, well-groomed dogs from all over the world. For this year’s dog show, the one contestant that made it to the top under Best in Show is a 10-year old Sussex spaniel named Stump. Owners Cecilia Ruggles and Beth Dowd were obviously very proud of their Stump last February 10, 2009 at the 133rd Westminster Kennel Club dog show. The event was hosted at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Westminster dog show winner, Stump, to the surprise of many, is one of the oldest winners for the Best in Show category ever in the history of the Westminster Kennel Club, coming out of retirement as a dog show competitor lately. Also known as Ch. Clussexx Three D Grinchy Glee, he has wowed the entire crowd with his amazing stunts and remarkable performance. Other dogs that competed during the competition were given awards as well such as the Best of Breed winner Ellie Mae, a white bull terrier of 4 years, Best of Opposite 2nd placer Jessie, a 3-year old Belgian Tervuren, and Toby, a 3-year old German pinscher from Easton, which won second place for the Best of Breed category.
